– Has refrigeration certificate of at least type 2.
– May need to possess a valid driver’s license and meet University’s Fleet Safety Program.
– Prefer 2 years of college/trade school.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
Iowa State University is hiring an Environmental Systems Mechanic II to help maintain heating, cooling, and ventilation systems across student housing. This is a full time, steady position offering a variety of hands on HVAC work, including preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs across residence halls and apartment communities.
You will work both independently and as part of a skilled trades team to keep building systems operating safely and efficiently. With a variety of buildings and equipment, each day brings new challenges while still offering a consistent schedule and a supportive team environment.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30AM to 4:00PM., with participation in an on call rotation.
What you’ll do:
+ Maintain and repair heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration systems
+ Troubleshoot system issues, including air balancing, steam systems, and equipment controls
+ Calibrate thermostats, sensors, and other electronic control components
+ Perform preventative maintenance and complete daily work orders
+ Respond to HVAC related service calls and resolve issues efficiently
What to expect in this role:
+ Full time, on campus position supporting student housing facilities.
+ Participation in an on call rotation to assist with after hours needs.
+ Work in a variety of environments, including mechanical rooms and residential spaces.
+ Physical, hands on work with exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and equipment.
