Monitor for transportation routes

TITLE: Bus or Van Monitor

REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation & the Superintendent of Boone Community School District

WORK YEAR: 9 Months

PART-TIME: 3-6 hours per student attendance day.

SUMMARY:

Responsible for the safe operation of a vehicle transporting students to and from schools in accordance with policies and procedures.

Duties include, but are not limited to assuring the safe operations surrounding the transportation of all riders; student management and discipline; and communication with parents/guardians, students and school officials.

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:

+ High School diploma or equivalent.

+ Experience preferred but not required

TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

+ Ability to communicate effectively in the English language both in writing and orally.

+ Demonstrated skills with interpersonal relations and teamwork.

+ Demonstrated organizational skills.

+ Ability to provide excellent customer service and public relations.

+ Skilled in critical thinking and problem solving.

+ Ability to be flexible in daily scheduling of job responsibilities.

+ Advanced skills in cooperation and communication with supervisors and co-workers.

+ Ability to manage confidentiality in all aspects of the job.

+ Ability to manage multiple priorities with frequent interruptions.

+ Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

+ Ability to promote and follow building and departmental policies

+ Apply and follow all school district policies and state of Iowa laws.
