Ames: A Glimpse Inside is a free open house event on Saturday, October 17, 2026, offering visitors a behind-the-scenes look at 11 historic properties throughout downtown Ames and the Brookside neighborhood. Volunteers are needed to guide visitors and share information about each historic location, with two 2.5-hour shifts available. Volunteers will receive training and help highlight how these historic properties continue to serve the Ames community today.
