Job Description:

An innovative and fast-growing company in the renewable energy sector is seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer Engineer to contribute to the design and development of industrial equipment and process systems.

Salary Range: $75,000 – $145,000 (commensurate with experience; PE license required for upper end of range)

The organization focuses on converting low-value feedstocks into renewable, carbon-negative chemicals and fuels, offering the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects with meaningful environmental impact.

The ideal candidate will bring strong CAD skills and experience in industrial piping and equipment design. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Nevada, Iowa.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use SolidWorks and/or Autodesk CAD software to complete design tasks including equipment/process layouts, site layout, pipe routing, and development of standard details
  • Create detailed assembly and construction drawings based on PFDs, P&IDs, engineering calculations, vendor data, and relevant codes (ASME, ANSI)
  • Model equipment and piping systems in 3D, including vessels, tanks, and heat exchangers
  • Interpret and apply task requirements, codes, and standards for piping design
  • Collaborate with engineers and designers to support multiple concurrent projects

Essential Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and/or Autodesk CAD software
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical design and drafting for industrial plants
  • Experience with process vessels, tanks, heat exchangers, piping systems, and structural steel
  • Ability to read and interpret PFDs and P&IDs
  • Knowledge of carbon steel, alloy materials, and weldments
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive learning mindset
  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Computer Drafting and Design

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified SolidWorks Professional (or equivalent certification)
  • Familiarity with Smap3D
  • Knowledge of piping design codes and standards
  • Experience in process piping design in refinery or related industrial settings
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
