Required Minimum Qualifications:- Two years of experience at the Document Center Operator I level, including six months experience using computer software packages and online systems to prepare documents for digital duplication, or Equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired. – Possession of appropriate driver’s license as required.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience in print production, graphic communications, or commercial printing environments
Experience working in a higher education or academic support setting
Experience in a customer facing retail, service, or transactional environment
Experience with print finishing, bindery, or post press operations
Job Description:
Performs quick-print center and document production work under general supervision. Serves as a primary customer contact for print requests, providing consultation, pricing, and order status communication. Responsible for entering and processing print jobs using print management systems, preparing digital files for production, operating digital print and finishing equipment, and supporting production workflow to meet quality, cost, and delivery expectations. May provide functional supervision or on-the-job training for temporary or student employees.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
+ Provides front-line customer service, including consultation on print products, services, timelines, and costs.
+ Prepares pricing and cost estimates and communicates order and delivery status to customers.
+ Enters, verifies, and maintains accurate job specifications using print management and workflow systems.
+ Performs basic digital file preparation, including PDF conversion, file combination, page reordering, and minor formatting adjustments.
+ Operates digital printing and finishing equipment to produce quick-turn print jobs in accordance with specifications and quality standards.
+ Proofs work and consults with customers as needed prior to production.
+ Assists in monitoring production workflow and adjusting priorities to meet customer deadlines.
+ Maintains a high level of customer service and assists with resolution of customer concerns.
+ Monitors and assists with maintaining appropriate inventory levels of paper, toner, and related supplies.
+ Assists with equipment readiness and reports maintenance or service needs.
+ Maintains production and order records as required for operational tracking and billing accuracy.
+ Supports and provides on-the-job training to temporary or student employees as assigned.
+ Participates in meetings and departmental promotional or outreach activities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Knowledge of basic print production, finishing, and quick-print operations.
+ Knowledge of copyright laws and policies related to reproduction of printed materials.
+ Skill in providing effective customer service in a production or service environment.
+ Skill in using computer software, print management systems, and digital file handling tools.
+ Ability to accurately enter and interpret job specifications and production requirements.
+ Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
+ Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, and the public, both verbally and in writing.
+ Ability to maintain accurate records and perform routine arithmetic calculations.
+ Ability to follow written and oral instructions and apply institutional policies appropriately.
+ Ability to provide functional guidance or training to temporary or student employees.
