JOB DESCRIPTION FOR CHILDCARE WORKER AT FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH

I. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Provide care of infants through kindergarten in church nurseryon Sunday morning with one or more other people from 9:15-11:45AM
Provide care of infants through kindergarten during special services such as Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, and Easter Sunrise, if available. (Preference will be given to applicants who are available for these special services.)
Establish a routine that children can count on, including snack, organized
activities and free play.
Set-up and clean up the childcare environment.
Interact with and be attentive to the children so that all feel welcome and cared for.
Attend church’s Child Safety Training annually, and implement child safety guidelines.
II. JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Love of children.
Experience as care provider for young children.
Able to lift children and objects up to 30 pounds.
Able to provide own transportation.
Dependable and punctual.
Ability to initiate communication with supervisor and co-workers.
III. DESIRED SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE:
Experience supervising others or serving in a leadership position.
Background of church involvement membership
Able to anticipate difficult or dangerous situations and redirect.
Able to stay calm and think through the appropriate response in challenging situations.
Experience or interest in working with special needs children.
Experience or interest in early childhood development.
First Aid training.
III. COMMENTS:
If you are unable to work, you are expected to contact the designated FCC person as much ahead of Sunday as possible. Unless it is a real emergency, we need a week or more notice of absence. A very limited number of absences may be worked out, e.g. around the school calendar for an ISU student. More than two unannounced absences during the year will result in termination of employment.
START DATE: FLEXIBLE
PAY RATE:$25/Sunday or special service (Approximately 2.5 hours)
