Position Summary:
As an Events and Marketing Intern at the Ames Regional Economic Alliance, you will play a key role in supporting the planning and execution of various events aimed at fostering business growth, networking, and community engagement for its members and affiliate organizations. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in event management within the context of a dynamic business ecosystem, while also contributing to the mission of promoting economic development and vitality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Event Coordination: Assist the Director of Events in the planning, coordination, and execution of Ames Regional Economic Alliance including networking events, business luncheons, workshops, seminars, and community outreach programs.
- Vendor and Sponsor Relations: Support the Director of Events with event logistics, including vendor selection, catering arrangements, audio-visual setup, and coordination with sponsors and vendors.
- Event Marketing: Support the Vice President and Director of Marketing with the creation and distribution of marketing materials, posters, signage, videos. etc., curating social media posts for multiple platforms, and promotional giveaways.
- Attendee Management: Assist in managing event registrations, RSVPs, and attendee communications, as well as providing on-site support during events.
- Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support for the Director of Events, including data entry, document preparation, and database management. Position will be trained to provide front desk coverage to Client Services Coordinator.
- Post-Event Evaluation: Assist in gathering feedback from event participants, sponsors, and stakeholders, and contribute to post-event evaluations to assess event success and identify areas for improvement.
- Special Projects: Participate in special projects and initiatives related to event planning, community engagement, and member services.
Working Conditions:
Working in a team environment is imperative. This work is mostly performed in a professional office environment. Occasional evening, weekend or holiday will be required as needed to execute events which are held outside of regular office hours.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a degree program in Event Management or related field.
- Experience planning events.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Experience and knowledge of Canva and Adobe Creative Suites.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and customer-focused demeanor.
- Enthusiasm for learning, creativity, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a face-paced environment.
