Position Summary:

As an Events and Marketing Intern at the Ames Regional Economic Alliance, you will play a key role in supporting the planning and execution of various events aimed at fostering business growth, networking, and community engagement for its members and affiliate organizations. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in event management within the context of a dynamic business ecosystem, while also contributing to the mission of promoting economic development and vitality.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Event Coordination: Assist the Director of Events in the planning, coordination, and execution of Ames Regional Economic Alliance including networking events, business luncheons, workshops, seminars, and community outreach programs.
  2. Vendor and Sponsor Relations: Support the Director of Events with event logistics, including vendor selection, catering arrangements, audio-visual setup, and coordination with sponsors and vendors.
  3. Event Marketing: Support the Vice President and Director of Marketing with the creation and distribution of marketing materials, posters, signage, videos. etc., curating social media posts for multiple platforms, and promotional giveaways.
  4. Attendee Management: Assist in managing event registrations, RSVPs, and attendee communications, as well as providing on-site support during events.
  5. Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support for the Director of Events, including data entry, document preparation, and database management.  Position will be trained to provide front desk coverage to Client Services Coordinator.
  6. Post-Event Evaluation: Assist in gathering feedback from event participants, sponsors, and stakeholders, and contribute to post-event evaluations to assess event success and identify areas for improvement.
  7. Special Projects: Participate in special projects and initiatives related to event planning, community engagement, and member services.

 

Working Conditions:

Working in a team environment is imperative. This work is mostly performed in a professional office environment. Occasional evening, weekend or holiday will be required as needed to execute events which are held outside of regular office hours.

 

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program in Event Management or related field.
  • Experience planning events.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Experience and knowledge of Canva and Adobe Creative Suites.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and customer-focused demeanor.
  • Enthusiasm for learning, creativity, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a face-paced environment.
