**JOB DESCRIPTION**

This is a multi-level posting. Candidates may be considered for any of the levels posted, depending on their level of experience and depth of expertise.

This position is responsible for providing training, troubleshooting assistance and guidance to operations personnel to maintain and operate measurement equipment (meter and electronic flow measurement), gas quality equipment, pressure regulating and overpressure protective equipment, and related pipeline facilities in compliance with specifications, codes, safety standards and company operating procedures.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

Provide technical guidance and instruction related to the operation and maintenance of pressure regulation equipment, overpressure protection equipment, measurement (primary and secondary elements) equipment, and gas quality monitoring and control equipment in compliance with regulatory, safety and operating policies and procedures.

Work with facility planning, engineering, design and construction to assure effective design, installation and operation of all pressure control, overpressure protection, measurement and gas quality equipment on new construction.

Help train field team members as required or requested; assist teams with developing, planning and scheduling practices to efficiently execute required work. Review work progress and assignments with the team to assure work will be completed in a safe, professional manner utilizing best practices.

Assist with troubleshooting, maintenance and/or repair of sophisticated measurement, pressure regulation, flow control, pressure relief and electronic flow measurement equipment.

Monitor cybersecurity concerns, aid field operations in updating firmware, software and communications protocols for all remote terminal units, meter software and monitors.

Audit existing facilities for compliance with operating procedures and Department of Transportation and Pipeline Hazardous Materials & Safety Administration requirements.

Coordinate flow computer inputs for TBS data analysis and overpressure protection (MARRS) and verify DOT compliance. Assist in training of field operations and engineering on the MARRS program and related applications.

Serve as Skill Based Pay skill verifier for measurement skill blocks. Potentially serve as an OQ verifier for operational qualifications related to pressure regulation and relief valve operation/testing.

Design new or modified measurement equipment that will comply with DOT, industry and Northern’s codes and standards. Review designs for operational input.

Assist in the resolution of producer and utility customer problems relative to delivery pressure, gas quality, measurement accuracy or delivery station volume capabilities.

Coordinate and assist in the commissioning of the work of third-party contractors.

Provide technical input to assist in development of project planning and capital budgeting.

Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology, business administration or related field; or equivalent work experience. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor’s degree.)

Eight or more years of related technical mechanical experience and level 3 mechanical skill block or equivalent for senior level; five or more years of related technical mechanical experience and level 3 mechanical skill block or equivalent for analyst level.

Thorough knowledge of compressors and drivers of both turbine and reciprocating design.

Ability to use and interpret drawings, schematics, technical data and similar documentation.

Working knowledge of applicable regulations (DOT, EPA, OSHA, etc), engineering standards, policies and procedures.

Excellent analytical skills necessary to identify, evaluate and resolve mechanical problems.

Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, etc) and ability to learn new applications.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.

Ability to work effectively with others in a team environment.

Subject to high temperatures and loud noises in engine rooms and exposure to high and low temperatures, and icy/snowy weather conditions.

Support the Company’s employee policies and procedures, including workplace safety rules.

This position requires approximately 50-75% travel within area of responsibility.
