Summary
The Ivy College of Business seeks a Graduate Business Career Services Specialist III to deliver comprehensive career advising and programming to online and in-person graduate business students and alumni. This role collaborates closely with employers and key stakeholders to support career exploration, internships, job opportunities, and professional skill development. The position designs and delivers virtual and residential career events, manages career outcomes data, and cultivates alumni and employer partnerships to advance student success. Serving as a subject matter expert, the role supports career readiness initiatives and strategic workforce alignment for graduate business programs.
Graduate Programs must find innovative ways to engage MBA and specialized degree seeking students and alumni in actively developing their interpersonal networking skills, their ability to sell their distinctive competencies in a highly competitive job market, and to stand out as an internship or job candidate. Development of new programming and career course teaching methods to engage students in their own career development has become increasingly critical and will be required for the incumbent in this position.
Example of Duties
+ Provide individualized and group career advising to online and in-person graduate business students and alumni, supporting career exploration, internships, and full-time employment.
+ Maintain effective in-person, virtual, phone, and email communication with students, alumni, and employer partners.
+ Review and strengthen résumés, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, and professional materials.
+ Advise on interview preparation, performance improvement, and employment negotiation.
+ Interpret career and self-assessment results to support informed career decision-making.
+ Collaborate with faculty to align employer needs, industry trends, and student feedback to enhance academic and career alignment.
+ Serve as a liaison between employers and students, coordinating job opportunities, campus recruiting, and employer engagement activities.
+ Plan and deliver virtual and in-person career programming, including networking events, employer panels, workshops, mock interviews, and corporate receptions.
+ Support and coordinate residential MBA career events in partnership with the Director of Graduate Career Services.
+ Teach business professional courses and workshops.
+ Present to classes, orientation, student organizations, and associations on professionalism, career readiness, and job search strategies.
+ Meet with prospective graduate business students as part of the admissions process.
+ Manage career data and outcomes reporting using CyHire and related systems.
+ Develop and manage alumni engagement program that leverages mentorship, networks, and employer connections to expand employment opportunities for students and graduates.
+ Collaborate with Deep Tech faculty and students to assist in operations of the program.
+ Research labor market trends and career practices to support students and alumni.
+ May supervise student employees and/or staff as assigned.
Level Guidelines- Senior-level position possessing high-level professional and/or technical skills working independently under minimal supervision to support ISU’s mission and department or work unit goals- Applies senior-level professional knowledge and expertise to work requiring greater latitude- Solves moderately complex problems and regularly exercises judgment to determine appropriate action- Regularly exercises judgment to resolve problems and determine appropriate action on a broad set of issue and problems. May provide recommendations regarding problems/issues outside the bounds of defined procedures and practices- Responds to complicated inquiries, provides training, and provides direction to lower-level staff- May provide supervision for one to two other staff (i.e., leads a small work team)- May lead projects for which well-defined practices and procedures may not exist- Provides guidance to students
