Job Description:

Are you passionate about creating seamless, high-impact event experiences through technology? Join the Memorial Union at Iowa State University team as our? Audio/Visual Support Specialist ?and play a vital role in bringing events to life at the heart of campus life.

In this position, you will be the go-to expert for all things AV-setting up, operating , and maintaining innovative audio/visual systems for a wide variety of events. From student org meetings to large-scale conferences and performances, your work will help shape memorable experiences for thousands of guests each year.

The ideal candidate will have s trong technical knowledge of AV systems and event production. Excellent communication and critical thinking skills. Experience supervising or mentoring others, especially students. And the Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

What You Will Do

+ Lead AV Event Support Set up, operate , and tear down AV equipment, including mixers, microphones, projectors, lighting, and cameras. Collaborate with event planners and clients to ensure flawless execution and document outcomes via post-event reports.

+ Team Leadership & Admin S upport a team of 4-8 student AV technicians. Oversee hiring, onboarding, training scheduling, and time approvals. Maintain documentation, inventory, and assist with equipment upgrades.

+ Install & Maintain AV Systems C ollaborate and assist in the installation and configuration of AV systems across the Memorial Union. Oversee preventative maintenance.

+ Tech Support Provide hardware/software support to staff, train users, and assist with workstation and peripheral installations.

+ Other Duties Pitch in wherever needed to support the success of the department.

+ Career-level position demonstrating proficiency and knowledge of related competencies

+ Works under direct to general supervision and may receive guidance on more complex assignments

+ Follows established procedures for work assignments, and completes assignments that are semi-routine and may be atypical in nature

+ Applies thorough knowledge to respond to inquiries and requests

+ Able to resolve most problems and issues and respond to requests without escalation

+ Provides guidance to students

+ May provide supervision to one to two other staff or lead a small work team

+ Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.
